About
David Thorpe is a provisional psychologist with a genuine commitment for helping people achieve their goals. He believes that the most effective therapy is built on working alongside clients to understand their unique needs and what evidence-based approaches will work best for them. David is currently developing his skills in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help people going through life changes and dealing with challenges like Anxiety.
David has a particular interest in helping people navigate burnout and stress. He brings a well-rounded perspective to this work, drawing on experience in stress and burnout psychoeducation, psychological research and a range of roles across the private and public sectors.

Approach to Therapy
David is currently training in strategies from:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Developing psychological flexibility and learning to work with difficult thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI): A collaborative, goal-focused approach to building motivation and commitment to change.
Areas of Expertise
David has experience supporting clients with workplace and career-related challenges, including:
- Stress Management: Helping people identify causes of stress in their work and personal lives, and developing practical strategies to manage and reduce its impact.
- Burnout Recovery: Helping workers recognise the early warning signs of burnout — including feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced effectiveness — and working collaboratively to restore wellbeing.
- Work and Career Relationships: Assisting people to navigate professional relationships, including managing conflict, improving communication, and finding healthier dynamics with colleagues, managers, or those they lead.
