What to Expect
Visiting a psychologist can feel like a big step. We’re here to make your first visit, and every visit, a positive experience.

What to Expect During Your First Visit
The Mind to Mind Difference
Mind to Mind

1. Referral and Connecting With Us
Whether you’re referred by your GP, another provider, or self-refer, your journey begins by reaching out to us. You can make your first appointment through our online booking system or by giving us a call on (08) 8410 2342.

2. First Consultation
Your first session is all about us getting to know each other. We talk with you about your concerns, history, and goals, by simply talking and potentially using other assessments like questionnaires.

3. Treatment Planning
Once we understand your concerns and goals, we develop a tailored treatment plan depending on your needs. We’ll tell you all about the proposed plan, keeping you in the loop.

4. Treatment
We’ll schedule regular appointments based on your treatment plan. Your psychologist might recommend a particular approach, such as Cognitive Beahvioural Therapy. The techniques we use will also depend on your unique concerns and your needs.

5. Monitoring Your Progress
We regularly review your progress through discussions, assessments, and your feedback. If you have any questions or if things change along the way, we’ll work through them together.

6. Transition
As you get closer to your treatment goals, we’ll begin to discuss your next steps. Whatever those steps look like, we aim to ensure you have ongoing support to best maintain your progress.

7. Follow-Up
Once you reach your goal, we review your progress and address your future plans and any other questions you may have about your current and future wellbeing. When you’re content that you’re sustainably feeling better, we can devise a ‘relapse prevention plan’ to ensure you stay on track. And, if you hit any bumps along the road, you can always re-connect with us for a ‘booster shot’!
